How do I add an image?

Click Image to upload from file.
Drag and drop directly on the canvas area.

In Layers mode, imported files are added as new layers. In Retro and BGone, new imports replace the current source image.

What formats are accepted?

Blizlab accepts browser-decoded image/* types (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and others your browser supports).

⚠️ Exact format support depends on the browser. If your browser cannot decode the file, import fails.

Large images are constrained to 4096px on the longest side to keep editing responsive.

Why did my image resize or look softer?

If Upscale low-res images is enabled, Blizlab may stretch small sources to fit the working canvas and selected definition (SD / HD / 4K).

⚠️ Upscale is simple stretch upscale (not AI super-resolution). Expect softness or pixelation on very small inputs.

How to cut out a subject (AI)

Open BGone mode.
Click Cutout.
Use Border slider and brush tools Erase/Restore to refine.
Use Undo/Redo while refining.

⚠️ First use downloads the U²-Net model once. After that, model runs offline in that browser profile.

How to remove chroma key color

In BGone, click Remove chroma key. It is tuned for green-screen style keys and includes despill logic, then you can refine with brush tools.

⚠️ Green-biased by design. Non-green keys may require more manual cleanup.

Layers limits and destructive behavior

Maximum layers: 5.
If limit is reached, add/duplicate actions are blocked until you delete one.

⚠️ To keep the workflow simple and fast, some actions are destructive.
Background tools on a layer (cutout/chroma from the layer tool) apply changes directly to that layer image.
Delete removes a layer immediately.
Best practice: duplicate a layer first before heavy edits.

How to create GIF animations

Need at least 2 layers.
Open Layers mode and use Create Parallax Animation.
Tune duration, intensity, quality preset, FPS, loop mode, and motion type.
Render opens a preview. Save when it looks right.

⚠️ Longer duration, higher FPS, and higher quality increase render time and file size.

Common confusion points

"Download" in Layers mode exports merged composition PNG, not separate files.
ZIP export is where you get each layer as individual PNG.
Solo mode temporarily mutes other layers until solo is toggled off.
